The Lower Ground Floor houses the art, design and fashion book stock. There are plenty of study spaces (many with power) and soft seating areas. A large number of Macs are available for anyone to use.
As you enter the library you will find the information and help desk. There are self-service machines available so you can borrow and return library items. You can also borrow one of the laptops available for students to use. The Assistive Technology room is located on this floor.
This floor also provides a student kitchen where you can make drinks, heat food you've brought in and make use of the seating provided.
On Floor 0A you will also find a silent study area housing the law and criminology books, PCs for anyone to use and study tables with power supply.
On Floor 0B there are more PCs and study spaces for you to use plus a bookable study room.
Floor 0C offers a large area suitable for practicing presentations, study spaces with plenty of power sockets and display screens for group working. There are also three bookable group study rooms.
Floor 1A offers a spacious quiet study area with power available to many of the table; this floor also houses the majority of the print book stock. There are some bookable individual study rooms on this floor too.
All courses are supported by our team of friendly Information Librarians. They are available to offer online contact and support throughout your course and their offices are on this floor.
Floor 1B includes a group study area and the book stock for maritime, engineering and construction subjects is shelved here. The Learning Resources Assistants have an office on this floor and are available to offer support with using the library.
Floor 1C also has a group study area; the book stock for computing, maths and geography is shelved here. There are two bookable group study rooms available as well as a soft seating area.
Floor 2A provides access to the Guided Learning Centre where you'll find extensive provision of PCs and Macs - including specialist gaming PCs. Plenty of printers, photocopiers and scanners are available too.
The Guided Learning Advisors Helpdesk is on this floor to provide support related to the University’s teaching and learning systems or any other general technology or account issues.
There is also a large group study area on this floor with plenty of study spaces with power supply and further access to PCs.
Floor 2B has a group study area available. The book stock for music, film, TV, tourism, leisure, health and nursing is shelved on this floor books.
Floor 2C is where the book stock for literature is shelved. Group study spaces are provided along with two bookable group study rooms.
Floor 3 is open Monday to Friday 08:30-19.00 and provides access to 28 PCs plus printing facilities within the large group study area, plus a quiet study area on the otherside of the staircase.
