The Library would welcome suggestions for book purchases that will help us work towards diversifying the Library’s book collection and promote awareness and discussion, broaden horizons, and challenge us all.
We welcome suggestions for titles that will help us develop our collections to be more inclusive of any marginalised community, whether they be associated with race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, physical ability, socioeconomic class, or any other underrepresented group. The titles can be fiction or non-fiction; this collection is being developed to represent all voices – regardless of gender, race, sexual orientation, physical ability and religious belief.
We also welcome feedback and comments on this guide, especially if you have found a resource useful, or if you feel we should remove any content. Please email library.support@solent.ac.uk
Complete the Peer Purchases form for titles you would like us to consider for purchasing. This will be undertaken within the guidelines of diversifying the Library's collection as well as cost and budget availability. The Library has a digital first policy. If a book is available to purchase as an e-book, it will be purchased in this format to ensure maximum access.
