Key Library Information

The Library provides a wide range of resources to assist you with your studies, including print books, e-books, academic journal articles and electronic databases. These resources allow you to access the very latest high-quality information available for your subject.

How many books can I borrow?

Undergraduate students 

You can borrow up to 25 items

Final Year Students

You can borrow up to 25 items

Postgraduate students and Staff

You can borrow up to 25 items

Library Catalogue

The online library catalogue can be accessed both on and off campus and can be used to locate a variety of resources including books (print and online), journals, newspapers, reports, audio-visual materials and online tutorials, exhibition catalogues, websites and more. 

  • Books and Book chapters - searches for print and online book titles and finds online access to individual book chapters
  • Articles and conference proceedings - searches for online journal articles and conference proceeding 
  • Journals - searches for print and online access to individual journal titles
  • Videos and LinkedIn Learning tutorials - LinkedIn Learning searches an online learning platform for high-quality video tutorials on a variety of subjects
  • Absolutely everything - this search will retrieve huge results as it will search and find information from all of the resource type groups

Online Reading Lists

Many of your SOL units will have an online reading list that can be accessed via the module’s Reading and resources’ tab.

   Look for the eye icon within your module's Reading and resources page.

 

Using your reading list

Your list may contain recommended textbooks along with other sources such as digital chapters, journal articles, websites and more. 

Some lists will be very long and you will need to select a few items that are of interest, others have core readings, or separate weekly readings.  Check with your lecturer if you are unclear about what is required.  

Click on the item's title for more information (such as how many printed copies are available) or use the view online option for electronic access:

You may also see online items with digitised material notes - these are chapters or articles that have been made available electronically specifically for your reading list.

  Make sure you follow the access instructions for all your reading list items. 

Most electronic materials require your University email and password.
