This guidance is for referencing YouTube videos but can also be applied to any video which is hosted online. If the video is hosted within a web page or a blog then you may wish to refer to the guidance for those resource types. In the case of YouTube videos, the author would be the name of the person or channel who has posted the video on the platform.

 

In-text reference example

In the video from Solent University (2014), it is evident that...

...which shows great progress (Solent University 2014).

 

Reference list format

AUTHOR(S), Year of publication or last update. Title of page [viewed date]. Available from: URL

For YouTube videos, the author should be given as the name of the channel which has posted the video.

Page numbers in your in-text references
