Album

Include the details of the artist in the in-text citations and the full reference list.  If the artist name is their own then treat as you would an author; e.g. SHEERAN, E., if it's a 'band' name (even if one person), treat it as a corporate author e.g. LADY GAGA.

 

In-text reference example

The Levellers (1991) include this in...

There are some variations on what is included in a reference depending on whether you are referencing a single or a whole album. See below for examples.

If your album or single has four or more artist/authors, just include the first artist/author in both the in-text citation and full reference list entry.  You will need to add et al. after the first artist/author to indicate there were multiple additional authors/artists.

A source may sometimes have a corporate author rather than an individual or several people named as the artist/author.

A corporate artist/author is an organisation, company or group of artists for example, that created the information source.

Add a corporate artist/author by including the full name both in your in-text citation and in your full reference list.
