Compliance status

This website has been tested against the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standard.

This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.2 AA standard, due to the non-compliances and exemptions listed below.

Non-accessible content

The content listed below is non-accessible for the following reasons.

Non-compliance with the accessibility regulations

  • The pop-up item-actions menu, which is accessed from the ellipsis on each item in a reading list, is not compliantly coded, as it contains list elements that have unallowed child elements. This could cause difficulties for screen readers to access the information and present it to the user. However, manual testing with screen readers did not reveal any impact on the behaviour of assistive technology. Nevertheless, we have reported this problem to Talis (the system vendor). We do not currently have a date by which this will be fixed. This fails WCAG 1.3.1 Info and Relationships (A).
  • While it is possible to locate lists and units by both searching and browsing, the home page and profile pages are only accessible from the main menu. This means that some user who would have benefitted from, e.g., a site-map, may find it more difficult to navigate the webpages. The vendor is aware of this. We do not have a date by which this issue will be fixed. This fails WCAG 2.4.5 Multiple Ways (AA).

Disproportionate burden

We are not making any disproportionate burden claims at this time.

Content that's not within the scope of the accessibility regulations

At this time, we have not identified any content that is not within scope of the accessibility regulations.

What we're doing to improve accessibility

Any items identified in the Non-accessible content section of this statement that are entirely within our own control will contain a date by which we expect the issue to be fixed. We will continue to engage with our system vendor to resolve promptly the issue that involve them.
