Reading lists

This guide will give you an overview of what makes a good, meaningful reading list to support students on your modules.

It suggests some key points to consider whilst creating your reading list - plus it provides important details regarding Library policies and workflows around supplying the reading list content.

You can also get an overview of the process for getting your reading list added to SOL modules so students can interact with the content.

email If you have a reading list you would like added to your SOL module, please send it to your Information Librarian or the Reading Lists team at

Archiving of old reading lists on SOL - action required by 31st July 2021

Year labels

You may have noticed that reading lists now have a year label attached, e.g.:

Reading list title with year tag

This is to enable us to distinguish current lists from old ones and archive lists no longer in use to keep the system working efficiently.

Action required

If you are currently using a list that does not have a year label attached, please contact the Reading Lists team to update this before 31 July 2021 so that you do not lose access.
