Solent Library online services

It was with sadness that we closed the Library for the time being on Friday 20th March. We have always tried to be available whenever our students need us, for example by offering a 24/7 service at times of high demand as well as opening throughout vacations and even during the Christmas period.

Ultimately the safety of our users and staff and wider society has to come first though and when it reached the stage that staying open was at odds with the guidance given by Public Health England, we decided to close our physical spaces and move to a fully online service delivery.
 
A vast number of our books are available online and we are doing everything possible to work with suppliers and to provide online access to resources wherever possible. Almost all of our electronic journal articles and other online content that the Library subscribes to is also available from home.
 
Our staff are continuing to support students off campus through live chat and LibGuides where you can book an appointment for one to one support online with your Information Librarian.
 
It is important that you check your Solent emails regularly for communications from academic staff about assignment deadlines and online teaching. Please also see the Solent COVID 19 page for student FAQs. We will respond to all of your queries, although it may take us a little longer than usual as we all get accustomed to new ways of working.
 

We very much look forward to providing the full Library Service again on site when the government advise us it is safe to do so.
