Authors are responsible for ensuring research outputs are added promptly to the institutional repository, Pure, to satisfy open access criteria, ensure research conducted at Solent University is visible to potential collaborators and funders, and provide output information to form the University’s REF submission. Authors should refer to Solent University's Open Access Policy.
Research, Innovation and Enterprise (RIE) and the Library are responsible for managing Pure.
Please share new deposits with the library, who will include them on your Pure profile on your behalf. Email pure@solent.ac.uk or use the Pure deposit form.
The open access requirements for REF2027 have not yet been published, so until they are we are working to the existing REF Open Access Policy.
REF2021 required that any papers published in academic journals (as well as some conference papers) had to be made open access within three months of acceptance. If this criterion is not met, the publication can not form part of Solent's submission to the REF. This is why we have to have the date of acceptance in Pure, as well as the date of publication. Exceptions can be made for embargoed publications, but they must still have been uploaded to Pure within that time scale.
The version that we require is the author's accepted manuscript (AAM). Please use the Pure deposit form on this page to share your AAM for uploading to the repository. The diagram below is useful for checking which version is required here.
