Helping your students

Information librarians can help students with the following:

  • Identifying keywords and planning search strategies
  • Literature searching
  • Exploring relevant resources outside the subject area
  • Preparing for dissertations (literature searching not topic selection)
  • Referencing (classes, workshops or one-to-one support)
  • Referencing software

Subject libguides provide support that students can access themselves at point of need.  They may contain videos, online tutorials and quizzes, all designed to make students proficient library users and give them the information literacy skills necessary for their future lives.  The guides are developed and maintained by the information librarians and reflect the needs of the school they support.

Students can book one-to-one appointments through the libguides using the "schedule appointment" app.

Face to face appointments for more in depth queries are available for students, please point any students to this support.   These appointments are typically 30-60 minutes long.  Appointments can be booked through the "schedule appointment" app on the relevant subject libguide.

Referencing support

One to one or small group appointments are available for more in-depth Harvard referencing queries.  These appointments are typically 25 minutes or 45 minutes long.

How to access: Schedule an appointment

If you need an appointment for support with OSCOLA or APA referencing please email or the information librarian for law or psychology.
